A Red Hat Certified System Administrator certification is earned when an IT professional demonstrates the core system-administration skills required in Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.


  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator Exam EX200

Recommended Training:

A Red Hat Certified System Administrator is able to perform the following tasks:

  • Understand and use essential tools for handling files, directories, command-line environments and documentation.
  • Operate running systems, including booting into different run levels, identifying processes, starting and stopping virtual machines and controlling services.
  • Configure local storage using partitions and logical volumes.
  • Create and configure file systems and file system attributes, such as permissions, encryption, access control lists and network file systems.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain systems, including software installation, update and core services.
  • Manage users and groups, including use of a centralized directory for authentication.
  • Manage security, including basic firewall and SELinux configuration

A Red Hat Certified Engineer certification is earned by an RHCSA who has demonstrated the knowledge, skill and ability required of a senior system administrator responsible for Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems.

A Red Hat Certified Engineer is able to perform the following tasks (in addition to tasks associated with RHCSA):

  • Configuration of static routes, packet filtering, and network address translation
  • Setting kernel runtime parameters
  • Building simple RPMs
  • Configuring an iSCSI initiator
  • Producing and delivering reports on system utilization
  • Using shell scripting to automate system maintenance tasks
  • Configuring system logging, including remote logging
  • Configuring a system to provide networking services, including HTTP/HTTPS, FTP, NFS, SMB, SMTP, SSH and NTP

The RHCVA certification is for system administrators whose responsibilities require them to have the skill and knowledge to deploy and manage virtual hosts in production environments using Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization. This credential assures enterprises that their virtualization solutions are administered optimally and establishes credibility for service providers.


  • Red Hat Certified Virtualization Administrator Exam EX318

An RHCVA has demonstrated the following knowledge and skills:

  • Installing Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager
  • Creating datacenters, clusters, pools and templates
  • Installing and configuring Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization hypervisors to support guests and attach to Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager
  • Perform essential management tasks, such as logging and bookmarking

Red Hat System Administration I (RH124)

Red Hat System Administration I (RH124) relates to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 and is designed for IT professionals without previous Linux administration experience. The course focuses on providing students with Linux administration "survival skills" by focusing on core administration tasks. System Admin I also provides a foundation for students wishing to become full time Linux system administrators by introducing key command line concepts and other enterprise level tools. These concepts are further developed in the follow-on course, Enterprise Linux System Admin 2 with Exam Prep. Both courses are needed in your preparation for the Red Hat Certified System Administrator Exam (EX200).

Target Audience: IT professionals across a broad range of disciplines who need to perform essential Linux administration tasks including installation, establishing network connectivity, managing physical storage, and basic security administration.

Red Hat System Administration II RHEL7 (RH134)

Red Hat System Administration II RHEL7 (RH134) focuses on the key tasks needed to become a full time Linux administrator and goes deeper into enterprise Linux administration including file systems and partitioning, logical volumes, SELinux, firewalling, and troubleshooting.

Target Audience: IT professionals who have attended Enterprise Linux System Admin 1 Essentials and want the skills to be full-time enterprise Linux administrators and/or earn RHCSA certifications.

Red Hat System Administration II with RHCSA Exam RHEL7 (RH135)

Red Hat System Administration II with RHCSA Exam RHEL7 (RH135) is designed for experienced Linux administrators who require networking and security administration skills.

Target Audience: Senior Linux system administrators who require networking and security administration skills - Linux IT professionals who currently have RHCT/RHCSA certification, and are interested in earning an RHCE certification - Linux IT professionals that can demonstrate the competencies needed to earn an RHCT/RHCSA, but have not passed the RHCSA exam provided with the Enterprise Linux System Admin 2 with Exam Prep.

Red Hat System Administration III RHEL 8 - Linux Automation (RH294)

Red Hat System Administration III: Linux Automation (RH294) is designed for Linux® system administrators and developers who need to automate provisioning, configuration, application deployment, and orchestration.

Target Audience: This course is geared toward Linux system administrators, DevOps engineers, infrastructure automation engineers, and systems design engineers who are responsible for these tasks: Automating configuration management, ensuring consistent and repeatable application deployment, provisioning and deployment of development, testing, and production servers, and integrating with DevOps continuous integration/continuous delivery workflows.
